Winemakers’ Notes: The fruit was harvested at optimum ripeness, totally destemmed to preserve whole berries (no crushing) and transferred without pumps to open wood fermenters. The fruit was fermented with its natural indigenous yeasts for a period of 40 days. The wine was then aged in old French oak for a period of 26 months which has produced a wine of complexity and balance. A luscious, morish wine that has the ability to age.
Tasting Note: Aromas of ripe dark cherries with a hint of rose oil are complexed by some tarry, earthy, savoury notes with a slight ethereal lift. The palate is full bodied with flavors of ripe, juicy, dark red fruits, a touch of grip from fine tannins and great persistence on the finish. This wine has excellent balance and structure, ripe and round from a warmer year but kept in check by lovely acidity. A wine made for pure enjoyment.
